Krillionhack

Get your API key

Krillionhack is free, but it needs your own Anthropic API key to get answers from Claude. You pay Anthropic directly for what you use, and you can cap how much that is. Setup takes about 10 minutes.

What it costs

One questionAbout $0.03
A 7-question gameAbout $0.21
What $5 of credit coversAbout 160 questions, or 23 games

These are estimates, and the real cost varies by question. The extension shows what you've spent each day, and you can check exact costs in the Claude Console.

1. Create an Anthropic account

Go to platform.claude.com and sign up. This is separate from a Claude.ai subscription. You must be 18 or older. Anthropic asks about your organization and how you'll use the API, so answer truthfully. An individual is fine.

2. Add credits

On the Billing page, click Buy credits. $5 is plenty to start. Credits can't be refunded and expire after one year. Leave auto-reload off, so you can't spend more than you've added.

Have Claude Max, Ultra or Team? Your plan includes monthly API credits, with no card needed. Sign in to the Console with the same login as your plan. Then on claude.ai, go to Settings > Billing > API credits and link your Console organization. Each plan links to one organization, so choose carefully.

3. Create a workspace with a spend limit

A workspace is like a folder for your key, with its own spending cap, so the key can't spend more than you choose.

  1. Open the Create workspace page. This link takes you straight there, so you don't need to look for a button. If it asks you to sign in first, do that, then click the link again.
  2. Type Krillionhack as the name, and pick any color. The color only helps you recognize it.
  3. Click Create workspace to finish.
  4. Open the Workspaces page and click Krillionhack in the list. A panel opens. Don't use Default, because it can't have a spend limit.
  5. In the panel, click Spend limits.
  6. Under Monthly limit, click Change limit. Enter an amount you're comfortable with, such as $5, and save it.

Can't create a workspace? Only an organization's admins can. If you signed up yourself, you should be one. If someone invited you to their organization, ask them to do this step, or switch to your own organization.

4. Create your key

  1. Open the API keys page and click Create key.
  2. Name it Krillionhack, and pick an expiration. A shorter one is safer, and you can always make a new key.
  3. Set Linked account to yourself.
  4. Choose your Krillionhack workspace. A key without a workspace won't work with the extension.
  5. Copy the key. It starts with sk-ant-, and it's only shown once.

5. Add it to the extension

  1. Download and install Krillionhack if you haven't yet.
  2. In Chrome, click the Krillionhack icon in your toolbar. The side panel opens.
  3. Paste your key and click Save key. The extension checks the key with Anthropic, which costs nothing.

You're done. On a Krillion question, press Alt+Shift+K (Option+Shift+K on a Mac) or click the icon. Clicking can move your cursor out of the answer box, so try the shortcut first. If the shortcut does nothing, you can set your own at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
